Celebration Cake Challenge- Food Network
Decorating By MichelleM77 Updated 26 Mar 2007 , 7:58pm by pinklady1356
I didn't see this anywhere else, so sorry if this is a repeat post. I just caught the challenge on Food Network tonight and it looks like it will repeat all week. It was one that I had never seen before, think it's new. Different way of pairing up the decorators. Very interesting.
A few things I noticed was the use of a pasta machine to roll fondant thin, which was brought up in another thread, and also it looked like after making fondant or gumpaste shapes, that they put them in one of those food dehydrators to dry them out quickly. I've never heard of that before and thought it was a neat idea.

I just watched and I do hope the Asian woman washed her hands after playing peek a boo with her nose. Watch, you will see. I won't tell you who won, but they had some spectacular work.
Thanks MichelleM77!!! I would never have clicked that it was on until I saw your message and in my part of the world its coming on it 20 minutes! Thanks!!!
Wow, I just finished watching it! I was really happy they used different people, but then again I love Mike, Duff and Collett!! I really didn't like the pink team but I hate when people fight so.... Watch it if you can, it was good!
I actually watched it twice! I DVR'd it and wasn't paying as much attention as I wanted and before I knew it, it was over! Rewind!
Ha! I did see her wipe her nose a few times. She was so flustered with that other decorator.
I was very, very happy to see new people. It seemed all the challenges were the same 4 people going at it all the time. I had only heard of Rebecca Sutterby and it was nice to see some non-celebrities. It was also nice that they didn't do wedding cakes. I hope they continue these challenges. I'm sure the decorators are awfully busy and it's hard to get away, but they are so much fun to watch. I wish the shows were longer than an hour also. I'm sure there is more to watch than what they put in there and we could learn so much more!
I watched it but can't figure out which team was fighting.....was it the Asian woman who was paired with the redhead? I heard about the dehydrator trick a while back (along w/ the paste machine) and picked up both at thrift stores for about $5 a piece.
Still haven't used them but I tend to buy lots of toys and tools and then dream up ways to use them.....whilst sitting upon my rump watching t.v. ![]()
It's actually an old episode and one of the winners is a fellow CCer! And she's a fellow Kansan!
I was just about to post that I found her website from here. LOL!
Oh darn, it was an old show? Sorry about that! I thought it was something new and couldn't wait to watch it. I'll probably watch it again sometime this week. I find those challenges so fun to watch.
Really, how cool!! I really loved the cake that won, simple but sometimes the best cakes are! I loved they showed all the techniques! Really what is her user name, I would love to see other pictures of work she has done! I'm really glad they won!
I loved that episode too!

LisasCakesNM, this is from another forum post. She is an awesome cake artist. I love the one she did with the ballet shoes. Here's her site.
Thanks Terrisa for the link!! Her cakes are wonderful!! I need to watch it again with a pen and paper to take notes! I would love to see all of the decorators work but I am always so involved in the show I forget their names and where they come from!
Thanks again,
Lisa
carol murdock's store is like 10 minutes from my house! i had no idea!
i watched the show last night and wondered if there would be recognizable names....and then i one and thought, hey, there's the WASC lady!!! for some reason that name Rebecca Sutterby just sticks with you. She is awesome! Glad i finally got to see the face that went with the lovely cakes.
Hey yall, I love this show too. I wish there was just one channel only for Cakes challenge or other related to cakes that we can watch the whole day and nite.
I am hooked on cakes!!!!!![]()
