I have seen all of the beautiful cakes in the forums and would like to tell everyone YOU all are so talented!

I am looking for some EASY b-day cake IDEAS. I have 3 b-days coming up. I am celebrating Cassandra (4) & Bella's (5) together and they want a princess castle. Their b-day will be celebrated next month April.

Then my Roni (7) wants a Bratz b-day cake, and I need some EASY ideas yet again. Her's will be in May

Then last but not least MY little boy will be 1 in June! I need some cute EASY ideas for him. I would like Construction type cakes for him. Or just something boyish and EASY.

I am scared, but I think if I can find easy enough recipes, and directions then MAYBE? I can do IT???

Thank YOU all Ladies! Your work is VERY inspiring!

First of all welcome to Cake Central!!!! Second of all....I will try to answer your questions as best as I can...the castle cake.....depends on how big you want it...you could do a simple two tier stacked cake (stack a smaller cake on top of a larger cake) then use fondant or gumpaste and wrap it around paper towel rolls for the towers on the castle....then use ice cream cones, the pointy ones for the turrets at the top of the towers...then do some basic decorations around with some frosting...make window shapes on the towers, a door, etc. I like the two tier idea because then you can buy little disney princess figurines and place them around on the top and bottom tier and on the cake board...looks really cute!!!! Bratz B-day cake, I say you just make a buttercream transfer and put it on the cake....you just find a picture you like, trace it and fill it in with buttercream frosting freeze it and flip it over on top of a frosted cake and peel off the wax paper and you have a perfect image of anything you want.....and an easy idea for a construction cake would be to just simply ice the cake to look like a construction site...maybe brown icing for dirt...crumbled graham crackers for a realistic dirt effect and then you could just use small toys! Hope these ideas help....I will try and attatch some photos of the bratz buttercream transfer and castles...to give you an idea

WOW, those cakes are AWESOME!!! icon_surprised.gif

Could you please tell me if on the "construction cake" the hill or mountain is that a round cake cut up to look like that? Also what is the little tree made of or how could I make that? I know it looks like the grass is green coconut, etc.

Do you really think these cakes would be simple enough for me since it is my first time trying? I follow directions well, but am a bit nervous, lol.
Also should I start practicing before the parties? I am thinking we are going to have alot of cake in the house if I do! lol.

I am so excited to try these. Thank You very much for all of your HELP!

Those aren't my cakes by the way LOL They're ones I found in the gallery however I think I can help you.....the hill to me, yes it looks like a round cake that they cut and then put some of it on top in irregular shapes...the tree looks like an ice cream cone tree....very easy to make....here is the tutorial on that..........

http://www.cakecentral.com/article55-Ice-Cream-Cone-Trees-Great-for-Christmas-Cakes.html

and whether or not you practice ahead of time is up to you....probably wouldn't hurt to have the cakes completely done the day before, just so you can relax and if anything goes wrong you can at least forego sleep if necessary LOL I think you'll be fine...I think these cakes are good ones for a beginner.....the construction cake you don't have to make all of the construction equipment...so really it's just a matter of being creative with the frosting...it actually looks to me like they used a star tip or a grass/fur tip for the grass by the way, but you could certainly use coconut if that's your preference!!! I think you'll be just fine, don't forget to post your pictures after your parties, I think you're gonna have a ton of fun and be shocked at what you can do. : )

I did a construction cake that was pretty easy. Graham cracker road, choc covered peanut rocks, teddy graham construction workers, crushed oreo dirt, and pretzel stick logs. It is in my photos if your interested. Just click the photos button under this post. I would love to help you any way I can.

Hello,
I was just going to add a couple ideas on the Bratz cake and the castle cake that might be a little simpler. Someone posted a Bratz cake on here recently that had an edible image on it that was really cute. That would be easy for that and you could use some nice borders around the top and bottom. I would go into the galleries and put in Bratz and you can probably find it.
For the castle, there is a company called DecoPac that sells a cake kit for a Disney princess castle. It uses to stacked cakes and comes with plastic pieces for the windows, etc. Very cute cake and I'm sure not hard. The kits they have come with instructions. You can get it at any cake supply store or an online shop.
HTH,
Heather

here is an easy castle cake made with ice cream cones.

for son - make sheet cake and ice green like grass with road through it and put on toy matchbox cars or trucks. You could decorate sides where grass is by diggin into ground (use a chocoalte cake to look like dirt) or put piles of crushed Oreos. You could also use candies that looks like rocks.
