On the wiltons 12X2" round It says it serves 40 for a 2-layer cake. Does that mean I bake 2 12X2" and stack OR fill a12 X 2?

Thanks in advance! icon_redface.gif

It means you bake two seperate cakes in that pan, fill and layer. You can do just one, but the cake isn't going to be very high, and not look very good.

Ok , Thanks! That is what I was thinking. I'll bake 2. Your right it would not look good with 1 filled.

bake TWO 12x2s and stack w/ a layer of icing in between.

and of course I and many others go one step further and cut each layer in half == called torting === to get one inch layers and add icing between them

so that ends up 4 one inch layers w/ 3 layers of icing inside! a full 4+ inches tall when finished.
