I have to do a 70th birthday cake for a gentleman who likes fishing and working around his house. If I do the fishing cake, I am thinking about putting some trees around a pond.

How hard is this and what tip would I use? Please give me any advice you might have.

Thanks,
darkchocolate

I have used the star tip before on ice cream cones when I made my pine trees for a gingerbread house at Christmas. It looked realistic enough for me.

I used a leaf tip (352??). Started at the bottom and went around to the top. See my race track cupcake cake for example.

good luck!

I have done pine trees before using pretzels rods and green fondant. I put a blob of green fondant onto the rod and smoothed it to a traingle shape and then I snipped at it with scissors to make the branches and flared them out a little. They looked pretty good.
