Hi everyone,

Currently my business name is Parve Pleasures because I only make parve (dairy free) desserts in general. However, I have also done a little catering on the side (started as a favor) and this part is becoming a more prominent part of my business and this often includes meat. For example I booked 3 small catering events this past week.

Also, because I am the only local kosher baker I am receiving requests about dairy desserts for an upcoming holiday in which dairy is always served, especially cheesecake. So, I don't know what to do. I would like my business name to match what I do and include the catering at least. I'm not really sure about the dairy part, though. Also, I don't want to limit my business to only the Jewish community, so I don't know whether to include the kosher part in my name or tag line. Although, once I'm liscensed and advertising I think the Jewish community could keep my business running very nicely.

I'm planning on getting liscensed in the next 6 weeks or so, so I really need to come up with a final name.

I'm open to using my name in the title (either Kathi or Nechama, my Hebrew name), but again I am just at a loss. Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks,
Kathi

I would try to use the name Nechama as part of the name because I think it will atract customers from the Jewish community which would help you establish a steady clientele

Not sure about what name to choose, but if you choose a Jewish name and include "and More" or "Etc" at the end (like "Parve Pleasures, Etc" although I know that is not the name you are looking for), then it would be obvious from the name that you cater to Jewish business but also serve other things as well.

Just a thought.

Kashrut Cakes and Catering?

I'd keep the Parvet in the name though. That's how you're known now and it still needs to be a part of the new name so that you don't confuse your base business.

Kosher to many non-Jews is a sign of high quality and extra care in preparation...so using that shouldn't hurt and may even help.

and jumping around a bit....might it work to include the little K and P labels that are found on Kosher and Parve foods in your tagline or logo as easy way to communicate to Jewish community the level of preparation you do?

Yente's Delights -- fine foods and desserts to match your occasion (p) (k)

(use Pleasures instead of delights? brings transfer from current name)

====

is there some Yiddish word that would "read" to anyone as part of the name that could be a base for the name

such as L'Chayim

or

Gut Yontiff ???

----------

hmmm....an interesting challenge.

(p.s. do you make REAL NY style bagels???? dying here to find some!)

Hi Doug, I know how to make them, but honestly, I haven't made bagels since we had children! Sorry!

As for the (k) and (p), I actually have a statement regarding who supervises my kitchen as part of all my materials, so that really isn't an issue.

Thanks LanaC, Kitagirl, mmo88 for the thoughts.

My husband suggested Nechama's Noshes, so maybe Nechama's Noshes and Parve Pleasures? Or is that too long?

Any other ideas out there?

Thanks,
Kathi

Could you just add to your current name so your customers won't be confused? Like above "Parve Pleasures & More" and then underneath mention that you cater both Kosher and nonKosher dinners and desserts?

I like plain ole Nechama's Noshes and then put your tag line here as your business tag line.

Okay,

So the suggestions so far are:

Nechama's Noshes
Parve Pleasures for your Shabbos, Simchas or everyday delight.

Parve Pleasures and More
Kosher Baking and Catering for every occasion.

What do you think after seeing them printed out? Any others out there?

Thanks,
Kathi

The first choice is more "Jewish" than the second, the second seems a little bit more inclusive...so it depends on who you want your target to be (all Jewish? or mostly Jewish but other customers as well)...and how large a customer base you already have that loves your current name.

why not have more than one business, and thus more than one name

If I have more than one business, I need more than one liscence, inspection, insurance policy, etc...

I really want to keep it streamlined, so any more thoughts on the above, or evem something totally different? Please...

Thanks,
Kathi

I think I like Parvee Pleasures and More. It covers all the basis and keeps your old name so you keep your reputation and established client base. It's simple and does exactly what you need it to do.
