This is the first cake I will make that is seen by someone other than family. I want it to be extra great. Any suggestions? How do I get the green to be really green without tasting funny? Thankfully it will be a 8 inch round cake so It won't have to be big!

I don't think you would have to add so much green that it will taste funny..are you using fondant? Or bc?

I am using buttercream! I had always heard that if you made the colors to strong they taste funny or is that just red?

The biggest problem is with red and black..they are sometimes hard to get deep enough. I don't think you will have too much trouble with getting a nice St. Patty's day green! thumbs_up.gif

I think I am going to make a cake with green borders and a pot of gold in the middle. The cake is going to a bank so I thought that would be cute. Can anyone come up with a cute saying to go with?

I am making a St. Patty's day cake for my daughter. I am doing a pot of gold with a rainbow...You could put" Somewhere under Over The Rainbow"

Just a thought!

Or you could add a leprechon and put "it's not easy being Green!"

I used to work at a bank and we would joke around St. Pat's that we were the end of the rainbow because we had all the gold. Something to do with that might be cute. Good Luck!

Smashcakes, i love the idea of wire sprays with shamrocks and gold coins. So cute!
