Seashells???

Can someone help me with learning how you make seashells like you see on the ocean scene cakes. How do you get there color. Thanks for the help

It depends on what you want to use to make the shells, gumpaste, chocolate or fondant. There are some wonderful seashell molds out there. You can dust the gumpaste shells with petal or luster dusts and then steam to set the color and add shine. Here are a few places I like for ordering wonderful shell molds

Here are some of the seashells I have made in gumpaste using some of the molds from these links. In coloring them, the dusts I like to use most are apricot, Georgia Peach, cream and super pearl.

wow, those shells are fantastic! i am going to check out the websites. i have a seashell cake in my pics (will try and attach it here) if you want to see it... it is a simple candy melts mold and then i hand piped candymelts with a number 3 tip onto parchment for the coral. pattern for the coral is Collette Peters.
