I've always brushed on my shimmer dust with a dry brush but wanted to get that nice, silvery shine by mixing silver dust with everclear. When I do this, it gets so clumpy.

My silver is in a small container that's only labeled Wilton at the bottom. I don't know if its shimmer or petal or what. Its not that sparkly though.

Can you only mix everclear with certain dusts to get that effect?

yeah - some of them (the larger chunky ones) won't mix.

Wilton's shimmer dust isn't a luster dust. It's gritty and won't dry smooth. (Found that out the hard way when I was aiming for a gold, and got a bumpy yellow. icon_smile.gif

I recommend buying luster or pearl dusts for a smooth finish.
Cake central has some great deals, too!!!

Wilton doesn't make luster dust, only shimmer dust (finely ground cake sparkle, aka gum arabic). Shimmer dust can't be mixed with anything as it will just form a gel clump. It needs to be applied to a moist surface in order to stick.
