I know this probably isn't what you want to hear, but why not go out tomorrow night after the big game. Hopefully he will have won some money on that game and you can help him spend it.

Awwww ... I would be sad, too. icon_cry.gif But, how about this ... go out for a nice dinner, and then go someplace (sports bar?) where DH can watch the game, and you can enjoy some birthday drinks?! icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, and by the way, I'm hoping for a UNC/Ohio State matchup in the finals!!! thumbs_up.gif

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! party.gifbirthday.gif

Happy Birthday! party.gifbirthday.gifparty.gif

Sorry it isn't going as you would like. Although I am not a baksetball fan, I am a huge sports nut myself so I can sympathize with your husband's wanting to watch the game. If it were the Super Bowl, I'd be telling everyone to go without me or I'd be finding a sports bar where I could watch it. icon_lol.gif

Hopefully you can come up with a compromise of some sort. I watched Dr. Phil this week where the wives were complaining about their husband's addiction to sports. I just figured the best thing to do was learn to like sports. It turns out I'm a bigger fan than most men I have had relationships with! One hated football but we compromised. He learned to watch football and I took up Nascar. Now I love Nascar also! icon_lol.gif

Good luck!

Diane

Thanks ladys I'm sure we will compromise some how any ways he has to go with me to see John Legend in concert the day after his b-day so I should try to be more fair

cakesbyjess that is what hubby is hoping for also in the finals!

Thanks for letting me vent!!!

LOL- I know about sports compromise...I was never a fan of golf until I met my husband. Of course I'm the bigger football fan than my husband is.
It's good to have common interests with your spouse!

I'm sorry sweetie, but I've got to side with your husband on this one. It's March Madness! It's UNC!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I couldn't help but to think of my children when I read this post. They have rarely ever had a party on their birthday. We usually put it off until weekends.

Maybe icon_rolleyes.gif you could wait one more day and then tomorrow you can make him not only go to dinner but also go to the movies since you compromised icon_biggrin.gif

Has your husband ever heard of a recorder? Sorry, but why should you put off your special day so that he can stay home and watch tv. Tape the show and go have fun. This is a pet peeve of mine, my dh is always too busy to take me out for bd or even get me a cake. He is not into sports, thankfully, but is always working.

I was just wondering the same thing cakesbyjess!

Dldbrou--my DH works so much he missed my BD last year too! His client (who is a female dentist) yelled at him when she found out because it was a saturday and he volunteered to drive 2 hours away to help her and her DH with a home computer problem. Thought he's be back in time to take me out for dinner. icon_rolleyes.gif As soon as the clients found out they called me and kept saying how bad they felt and that they yelled at him for me. He came home feeling rather stupid and to an upset wife. I'm with you. The men can always record the show!

I guess I am overly sensitive about bd's. I was born the day (date) after my mother and the day (date) before my father. Mom (29) Me (30) Dad (1). Anyway, my father always had a cake for my mother's bd and for my bd there was still left over cake, then for father's, new cake. I do not ever remember having my very own bd cake. I know that this is the main reason that I started decorating cakes. I always wanted my son to be able to remember his birthday cakes. I have never missed making a cake for either my son or my husband but I very seldom get a cake for mine. Usually my mother will make a small one for me, because she knows how I have always felt. There is a reason why birthdays are celebrated, so why do some people think that their agenda is more important than giving the bd person a special day. I always tell my dh that gifts are not necessary, just a meal prepared by someone other than myself and a cake with pleasant company, one day out of a whole year is not too much to ask.
