So, I posted last week that I was having problems with my cake plate not fitting in my pillars and that about a 1/4" gap between the two. Well, I take the blame for not testing the product before makeing the cake. Anyway, I got the cake plate and pillars back from the client and decided to see exactly why there was a gap between the plate and pillars. This is what I discovered.
I had to turn the plate upside down and apply quite a bit of pressure to the pillars before they snaped in place.
Well, as a novice cake maker, how in the world would one know to do that. I already had the cake setting on the plate and I was not comfortable applying that much pressure to the plate. I was concerned that my dowels in the bottom cake would spread out and tear up the bottom cake. And now that I think about it, there is no way I would transport a cake that is already on the pillars.
Ah well, you live and learn. I guess this just makes for more work on site.
BTW, I have been trying to upload this cake that I keep refering to and as soon as I figure out what the problems is I will let everyone see the cake.
glad you figured it out. i know the 1st time i used pillars I had a bit of trouble also.
