I had a birthday party for my daughter yesterday. While everyone loved the cake, design and flavore of the cake, they kept mentioning how toooo sweet the frosting was. Does anyone have an alternative white frosting? One that is easy to make and easy to colour but not too sweet? I'll try anything once. Thanks everyone!
when I switched to salted butter, that cut down on a lot of the sweetness. ( I use land o' lakes)
For the last frosting I made, used sweet butter but did add salt. DH still complained it was toos sweet, but then I had made the basketweave sided cake, and there was alot of frosting once the basketweave goes on. I think I will go for salted butter and a pince of salt and see if he likes that!

I tried a new recipe the other day that I got from the Ladycakese website. It was a french buttercream frosting, so awesome. Not too sweet at all. I normally use 1/2 butter 1/2 crisco bc plus a pinch of salt but I still thinks it's too sweet. This french bc was very easy to make and quite yummy.

There is a recipe on this site called "whipped cream buttercream" It's really good, and has an exceptional shelf life. Is light and not to sweet and crusts pretty well. Here is the link to it http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2019-Whipped-Cream-Buttercream-Frosting.html
nice job on your web site and your cake!!!!!!!!
