First up, i would like to say Hello as this is my first post.
I have been doing cream work for many years now and i have just started sugar classes... so im still a bit new at all that.

My question is.... What Mixers are best
Hubby said i can get a new mixer but i dont know if i should get a twin beater one or a single beater that has a paddle! I do lots of cream and choc work so what do you think would be best.

Also what brands and models should i look in too...?

Thanks Heaps

First off Welcome to CC, you will love it here! Everyone is extremely helpful. I have two stand mixers a Kitchen Aid 5qt Artisan mixer and a Cooks brand commercial mixer. They both work great. Both came with three attachments; paddle, whisk, and dough hook. I have also heard great things about the Delonghi brand mixers, but those can get very pricey.

I have a KA and love it. BUT, I don't have the pour shield. It drives me crazy. Plus, I can't find where I can buy the damn thing unless I buy a whole new mixer. I'm confident someone out there in CC will know where I can buy one??? PLEASE????? My youngest three kids (3 and twin 20 months) like to stand under the mixer when I mix as they pretend it's snowing. icon_lol.gif

I have a KA 5qt. Heavy Duty Plus..and I love it! I can't compare it to any other KA models as this is my first stand mixer. But it works wonderfully! After you get one..you won't be able to live w/o it!

I just looked up the Cooks Brand mixer on the JCPenney website, and it's half price right now for $149.99...I think you have to order it online though.

I just bought the HD Professional KA from Costco and then today I just bought the one Mom2seven spoke of..

You can get the KitchenAid Refurb 6Qt Professional 600 for $239.00.

sometimes when they are Refurb, it could just be a return item.
I also bought 2 of the 5qt and 2 of the 6qt bowls (refurb) only $19.00 each. Here in Canada they are regular $85.00 for each bowl. So that is a huge savings. Always great to have extra bowls on hand as the others have mentioned.
