I want to make cupcakes or a cake using buttercream for our local bagel deli who is opening a new location. I thought it would be a good way to get my name out there for doing cakes/cupcakes. I'm not great w/ fondant. Any ideas?

Well, cupcakes are easy to serve and eat - no worry about cutting correctly sized slices, and they're fun!

Here's info on making a cupcake cake which looks like a sheet cake (usually) but is actually individual cupcakes under a layer of frosting

How about:

some white icing (cream cheese) in a bagel shape (hole in center) and then some salmon colored "lox", maybe use the flat side of the basketweave tip to make lox shape sections.

some cream cheese with "chives", green tinted coconut

Butter colored icing with cinnamon sugar

That's all I can think of right now, but there are lots of possibilties!
