My sons teacher asked me to make a cake, and I just figured it would be a white cake with buttercream icing. Well I thought wrong. She sent a note home with him today saying she wanted a white or yellow cake with chocolate filling and white icing.

I already made a white cake this morning, so my question is, how would chocolate filling taste with a white cake and buttercream icing?

and does anyone have a chocolate filling recipe that they would like to share.

All i ever made was pineapple filling....

Thanks alot..

Ganache is delicious and can be used whipped for a filling. White chocolate ganache is also delicious!

The recipe is here

You can also just add some cocoa powder to some of your regular white BC to make it chocolate to save you the time of making an extra batch of BC.

I'd say more than 1/3 of my weddings are white cake with chocolate filling! Covered in white buttercream, of course! thumbs_up.gif

White cake with chocolate icing is about the only cake I make for my family .... during those times that hell freezes over and I make a cake just for fun! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I buy semi-sweet chocolate, most of the time Nestle's as that is what is mostly available where I live.

Same here - a lot of people like white cake with chocolate filling and white icing. Unless she is more specific, I'd even just go with a chocolate buttercream (if you have a good recipe) - because it's easy, and most people like it.

My Wilton instructor only uses chocolate pudding inside her cakes.
