Anyone heard of this? What is it exactly, I noticed as I was ohhing and ahhing through the gallery, someone that did a Dr. Suess cake used this sugarveiling system. Does anyone have information about this they would be willing to share?
Thanks

Sugarveil is a flexible icing with almost endless possibilities, as far as a piping medium is concerned. Check out their website at:

www.sugarveil.com

They've actually made complete DRESSES out of it, and used them in their shows!

It has a texture like a plastic doily would feel in your hand, but when eaten, it melts like butter in the mouth! It's truly amazing stuff, and relatively inexpensive. The EXPENSIVE part of the thing is the Sugarveil pen (which you DON'T have to have to use it--you can use regular bags/tips).

They remain flexible, but are the stable enough to stand up?

From what I read they remain flexible and wouldn't stand up.

I have read that you can use the icing without having to buy the pen if you want to test it. They say it works as well. I am looking forward to trying it to.

Is it good for embroidery work and scrolling on sides of cakes?
Where is the best place to purchase the icing?
What about the "air gun/pen"?

Is the "air pen" the same thing as the "sugar veil dispenser"? (been reading every thing here and on the web)

Just for the record....I bought it and used it w/o the pen.....I followed the directions to the letter and it didn't come out either time. It was very bubbly and foamy.
I contacted them and they re-interated the same directions. didn't work for me but the way they make it seem is that you can pipe some detailed stuf and then drape it over a cake....like a piece of lace...I still have the mix...maybe I'll try again.
