Does anyone have a good filling for a red velvet cake. I don't want to fill it with the cream cheese frosting, but I don't know what sounds good. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

I just made one with a cherry pie filling flavored with 1/4 tsp of almond extract. and put sliced toasted almonds on top of the cream cheese icing. It was delicious.

The cherry pie filling does sound good (love almond), but I don't have any on hand. I am recovering from knee surgery so I can't get to the store icon_sad.gif I was wondering how some kind of chocolate filling might taste. How does that sound to anyone???

I have done it with Chocolate mousse, cheesecake mousse, white chocolate mousse, raspberry or strawberry. I think it goes with a lot of things. icon_smile.gif

I would definitely fill it with some type of white chocolate buttercream/mousse so that people eating it will look at it and not see something totally different but will definitely taste the difference. Or maybe tort one layer with white chocolate mousse and another layer with strawberry mousse. Just a thought.

Wow that sounds great. I usually use the cream cheese frosting but I guess it's time for a change. YUM YUM
