A few weeks ago I asked if anyone knows what you can do to prevent colors from fading(like butter cream roses).
Also I tried for the first time to use fondant, can I use it on ice cream cakes? Has anyone used Decopac fondant?
when I cover the cake it always breaks.
Please let me know if you have any answers.
Thank you in advanced. Orit
heres a bump...im not to sure about fondant on ice cream im afraid it will slide off when the icecream starts to melt... i havent heard of decopac fondant but ive used fondx before it works great and taste good to... HTH
maybe you can add a bit of shorting to the fondant to make it more pilable it works with mmf. and the ice cream i don't know
ive used decopac fondant, i always knead it to get it more pliable also i use the fondant mat with crisco thinly coating it, it helps when rolling it out, and helps make the fondant softer.
as to the colors fading, i know they are trying to perfect the colors so they are fade resistant. decopac has the no fade purple. i shade mine a bit darker, purple and pinks since they want to fade. as im sure you know light will make them fade faster. keep in a darker enviroment until delivery.
i dont think you can use fondant on icecream cakes unless you serve right after its put on the cake. you cant freeze fondant, it gets yucky( ive had brides tell me this after freezing the fondant covered cake for there 1st ann.)
also i know you cant use fondant on riches bettercream. they told me this.
Thank you so much for your advise. I'm thinking
h my god! I made an egg ice cream cake and placed it in the display case, and it was sold right away, hey what can I do it's only the outside, inside it was all vanilla ice cream and I hope the fondant didn't totally ruin it.
See I work at a Baskin Robbins so all the cakes are made this way a cake on bottom and ice cream on top,so I frost with whipped cream or ice cream.
Maybe that's why it doesn't work the way I expected because the fondant freezes as you put it on the ice cream, and that's my first time using fondant
I can't wait to use it on cake I love the way it feels,
though when I roll it out and lift to place on the ice cream it just cracks and doesn't wrap around the cake(ice cream) the way I would like it to.
Like I said I must try it on a cake.
Thank you again so much.
