I had my 3rd Wilton class tonight. When I got home around 9:30 I proceeded to decorate a cake for my friends birthday tomorrow. It is now 3:17am and I have to get back up at 6am to get my kids to school. Oh, it is going to be a long day!!

It's always nice to hear that I'm not the only person pulling an all nighter to finish something up. I got home from my Course 2 last night, and then came home and baked 120 breast cancer ribbon cookies for a cancer fundraiser that I had to go to tonight, and my part of
my donation where the cookies for them to hand out. Then I had to do a cookie bouquet for my kids to give my ex for his birthday. went to bed at 7am and then got up at 9am to decorate the cookies and package them. UGH, was I just a tad bit grumpy.
I know how you feel! We all do it, something about baking and making people smile icon_lol.gif
got home from the fundraiser at 11pm - you'd think i would be dead tired and go straight to bed.. nope, got to check out CC and see whats new!
Hope you get some sleep.

Same....I got to bed at 3am Saturday morning and 1.30am Sunday morning, all due to cake orders. I guess I leave it till evening to start so the kids aren't around to ask if they can "help"!

oh yes, the dreaded "can I help" i love my granddaughter to death but as soon as she sees me getting ready to bake she want's to help. I hate to say no, because she is definately a baker in training, she soaks up everything I do, then explains it to everyone in her grade 1 class. so cute, like they care.
So i finally had to explain, when Nana is baking for us you can help all the time, but when Nana is doing it for "work" you need to leave Nana alone. (she lives with me, so it's all the time). So she's been so good about it, asking is this for us or for work, lately it's all been work, so I feel soooo quilty.. i'v been reverting back to the okay it's8:30 she's in bed, I can start my day now!

Sounds familiar. My three year old daughter will ask me constantly if she can now have a piece of the cake and I have to explain to her that it's not for us, but somebody else. She will go away and then come back 5 mins later asking for a piece of cake. That can drive you crazy after a while!

I do a majority of my decorations at night when the kids are in bed so I can concentrate and get the job done quicker.

You could try freezing a bunch of cupcakes so that you can pull one out whenever you work and your granddaughter can decorate her own cakes while you decorate yours!

Such a simple solution, now why didn't i think of that!

I will be baking a bunch of those up tomorrow, and freezing them for her..

Thank you, might save me a few of those late late nights, if I can start before she goes to bed.

That's a great idea! You could also bake 6 x 2 cakes or use the new Wilton Tasty-fill (4 inch) pans if she wants to decorate her own little cake a little more elaborately. Teach her a couple things to do with a star tip, then stand back and watch the genius at work! icon_lol.gif
