I can't wait. Does anyone know what we'll be covering tonight? On my registration papers, it says to bring icing sugar, meringe powder and colour flow mix plus my 3 cups of icing and an already iced cake. Do I really need to bring the icing sugar?

I don't know about the icing sugar but my first class for course 2 was so fun, we did violets and pansies. You'll enjoy the flowers that you will learn how to make.

Hmm interesting... Is this a Wilton Course? Are you taking it at a craft store?

In the Wilton C2 Lesson 1 you learn the reverse shell border, rossette, rose bud, and mum. The instructor will tell (and usually show) how to make royal icing, and explain how to make color flow. You don't do a cake, only use the practice board.

From what it sounds like, you may use the powder sugar, meringue powder and color flow mix to make them in class?? I've never heard of it down that way though. Nor have I heard of bringing a cake the first night.

If you have any questions about what to bring you should call the instructor.

Yea, I would definatly call the instructor, those registration papers maybe outdated or something. It would save you some time if you didn't have to bring a cake. I think each instructor may be different, so you may not be doing the flowers I said, but I hope you enjoy whatever you wind up doing.

We did what Texas Sugar said on our first night of the 2nd course. Perhaps the instructor is doing the color flow birds first?? That's my guess. Have fun!

Well, we have the same instructor for Course 2 as Course 1 and she did mention at the last class that we will need a cake because it is hands on.

It is the Wilton series I'm taking and it is done through the local continuing edcuation program. Maybe it is done just a little differently up here in Canada. icon_smile.gif

It should be fun either way... looking forward to it.

You should call. Some instructors change the order of the lesson plan from the books you are provided. I think in our first class of Course 2 we worked on color flow (we did the butterflies and fence) and some flowers. We didn't need a cake until the last night, I believe!

My SIL and MIL took courses 1 and 2 last summer in Burlington, Ontario. They're instructor had them bring cakes to EVERY class, which I thought was excessive. It just shows you how different each instructor is in there teaching.

HTH!

This is exactly what we learned and I didn't need to bring a cake. icon_sad.gif The registration receipt was incorrect and I showed the instructor who will be talking with registration to correct it. There is no need to bring a cake until the final night so I stuck tonight's cake in the freezer.

The mum's are hard to do. My icing got a little too warm so it wasn't looking like a mum. Practice pratice pratice until next Tuesday when we learn the pansies and apple blossoms. icon_smile.gif

Those mums drove me crazy, so don't feel too bad about them, they are really hard to get right. I finally just told my instructor that I wouldn't be doing any mums for NO body.LOL
