Sounds like you got a good bargin.....they sure are reusable! I don't know what you use to cover your cakes i.e buttercream or sugarpaste. They are absolute great for doing practice cakes and adding subility to tiered cakes (i.e used on the base/middle or top tier to add height).
If you do use buttercream, I would suggest that you cover the dummy with cling film as the butter will leave it oily. With sugarpaste (fondant), you don't have to wrap dummy in cling flim, when icing has harden you can just soak it off.
I hope this answers your question. thumbs_up.gif

When I saw the title I thought you were calling me a Dummy icon_razz.gif

I love using dummies. I use to wrap them, now I just frost as is, the frosting washes off.

If you want to keep 50 yrs. use RI I have one that I could toss out the window and it would come out fine icon_wink.gif

Now, I use BC. There is a Cake Decorating shop that I sometimes go to that has a decorated dummy cake on display for over 25yrs. It looks nasty because of the years of dust and some of the frosting came off from moving around. I don't now why they don't replace it.

I used Crisco-buttercream recipe and I don't wrap my styrofoams with anything. My BC crusts pretty quick and after it's been on there a few days, it's actually as hard a royal icing. I just cleaned one off that I'd had decorated since April '06 ..... just ran a knife under the hard icing and it popped right off....nice and clean. A quick wipe with a damp cloth and it was ready to go!

I didn't know they had whimsical dummies, I live in the UK. Do you have the full website address for this Dallas foam company? Do they do mail order? Much appreciated! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif
