Cheating with store bought cakes. That happens to me on occasion. However, for me its karma. I used to do that to others before I decided to get up off of my backside and try a thing or two.

I know, that's why I just grin and am nice to her. What's sad is that her own adult daughters (4 of them) ignore her & refuse to answer her phone calls. She's been at the house for over 2 months now and I kinda feel she has no plans on leaving. Sigh...but things could be worse, huh? But how I wish she would go home! I'd love her even more then ![]()
Okay, I'm one of those guilty people who turn down desserts
My problem is that sometimes I have to give up sugar & sweets completely because I have no self control...one piece turns into grabbing a fork & devouring half the cake ![]()
I turn it down because I figure if I just took a bite and left the rest on the plate, the person who made it would think I didn't like it.
I agree with everyone else though...there is never a time to be outright rude about it. Don't even get me started about my MIL ![]()

The only one that complaints (mainly to aggravate me) is my husband's nephew... He says that I need to "learn" to make cakes like Plublix or Winn Dixie's... that my cakes are too moist for him....
Like I said, he says that to bother me but on the other hand he truly loves supermarket cakes.. I have nothing against them but I can't make those kind of cakes...
No, Maria, HE NEEDS TO LEARN to make cakes from Publix/Winn Dixie.
You know, I am going to tell him that!!!! "Go work over there and let them teach you how to make them..." Good one, goodcakefairy! ![]()
Chris j and all you others that grin and bare it. Theres a halo with your name on it waiting. ( Or possibly a big cake in the sky) ![]()
Oh no Alien_Sunset! We wouldn't want to hurt anyone, her BF family was just being rude!
By the way, do you have any diabetic cake recipe's you could share? And is there any such frosting that a diabetic could eat?
Actually I don't have any diabetic cake recipes. I've been looking for some, but I need to think about more than sugar replacement. White flour also can do a big whammy on the blood sugar, so I need to develop a recipe that uses whole wheat as well. And still tastes good.
I've been working on some, but no luck as of yet.
My boyfriend is so used to avoiding sweets, that he really doesn't have much of a taste for them anymore anyways, so I haven't been rushing.
I think there's a frosting recipe here that has gotten some good reviews.
I'm sorry, but if you're nice enough to put your time, money and effort into making a cake, SOMEBODY needs to cut it and have a piece.
How horrible it must feel to take your whole entire cake back home with you. That's just rudeness beyond rudeness.
If I go to someone's home for dinner, I always make a point of having at least a bite of everything. It's common courtesy. And if one of my guests brings something, it's even more important to cut it. To send it back home with them is like saying "it's not good enough for us"...at least in my view.
I don't have in-laws yet, but I remember my ex-BF's mom. She couldn't cook/bake for her life. It sucked because every time I was there for dinner I@would have to try a bit of everything.... Her pumpkin pies were the worst though. She did them some weird way with no crust and bisquick mixed in. BLeck. Everytime I@brought baked stuff over, it never got touched, but I would leave it there anyways. I really didn't feel like taking it home, and in one way it would spite her. Her other kids would devour it later and leave her stuff untouched. It was a weird situation.....
