I'm doing my first paid wedding cake this weekend. There will be 60 guests and I told the bride I would make a 6", 10", 12" but now I'm thinking the 6" might look a fit funny on the 10". What would you recommned for a stacking combo?

what if you raised the 6 inch up on pillars? i think that would make it look good.

The bride just wants it stacked...she gave me a picture and it's a very simple cake frosted smooth in buttercream with a piped pearl border. She'll be adding flowers to it. I think the picture shows a 14",12" and 8"

I was thinking I could go with a 6", 9", 12" which should feed 62 (remember she has 60 guests) or an 8", 10", 12" but I'm thinking the 8" is an awful big cake for the bride and groom!

Thanks for posting this question Jacqui!!!!!!!

I'm in the same boat except I have until August.
The 12, 9, 6 combo seems to be the popular one for that number of guests. It seems like there would be more room for the flowers?

Yes, it does seem to be a popular combo but I'm concerned that it's kinda tight for 60 guests but it should serve 62 so I guess it could work.

I've noticed in some of the photos on here and on the web, a smaller layer between the 12 & 10 - like a 11" x 2" between the 3" layers. Kinda nice look to me if decorated right.....
Steady2Hands did the 14, 10 & 8 on one of hers and then made a separate 6" for the couple and displayed both. I thought that was a very good idea. Guess you could feel relieved about there being enough cake doing the 12, 9 and 6 with a separate 6" for the couple? Just a thought.

She's paid me for 70 servings...68 plus 12 on the 6". I also include a freshly made 1 year anniversary cake in the price so I really don't want to give out more freebies.
