I have been requested to do a cake like a pinball machine. The man is a fanatic about pinball machines and I want to do the cake justice for his birthday party. Anyone know of some ideas that can help me out.

how's about this:

plywood base.

those white pillars used for internal supports in cakes for leg

plywood or masonite cake board

two sheet cakes or one torted w/ one end split on diagonal and then flipped to give the slanted top of the pinball machine.

Rice krispies or stacked cake (krispies probably easier and definitely lighter) for the upright back of the machine.

cover all in BC or fondant.

for top of machine and front of back -- suggest getting really good photos of his fav machine and turning into edible images.

scale them up (and maybe tile over several sheets so can get big enough)
and apply them to top and back.

could edit photo of back (the riser where the scoreboard is) to change the wording to have the message about his birthday

(like HIGH SCORE: <name> XX years old!)

Ummmm Doug? Could you be a little more specific next time?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously - super idea! Definitly love the idea of the "tilted" cake. Flippers and bumpers made out of fondant or gumpaste - what a fun cake to do!!
