My mom would like me to make her friend a birthday cake for her 65th B-day...

Here's the catch, it's for 100 people! icon_eek.gif

What is the most simple, elegant cake I (a beginner) could "easily" icon_lol.gif do?

ANY suggestions are appreciated.

PS, never attempted fondont, so I think butter cream is a better choice.

Are you thinking of a stacked cake or a sheet cake?

Have you done basketweave before? You could make a simple basketweave cake and add a few fresh flowers.

Or do a simple buttercream cake smoothed and add a ribbon for an elegant look.

I looked in your gallery and your Pretty in Pink cake is really good. Maybe something similar to that just on a larger sheet cake? Your rose is wonderful thumbs_up.gif K'ly

I'm in Wilton 2 right now and will be doing the basketweave before I would be needing this cake so that is a possiblity!

I was thinking more of a stacked cake, but I've never done one before. Does anyone know if the globe pillar set by wilton is easy to use?

Kly - Thanks that's a good idea, since I already know how to do it!
