Hi- I just got a cake order for an 18th b-day. They would like the buttercream tinted in a silvery blue. In trying to explain, she said a muted blue color--without it looking gray. I guess I'm going for light blue and then maybe sprinkle shimmer dust--?

Hoping someone will have filled a request like this before...any advice??

Start with Wilton delphinium blue, as that is a denim shade of blue, then add a touch of black, then lighten the whole thing. Don't forget to let the color develop overnight.

Thanks playingwithsugar--I'll try that.

Does anyone else have advice/experice on making silvery blue? I'm making this cake today--and was going to try a few different combinations to see what I liked the best--- I guess I'm mainly afraid of winding up with a gray cake.
