8 oz in a cup
2 cups in a pint (16 ounces)
2 pints in a quart (32 ounces)
4 quarts in a gallon (128 ounces)

40 gallons then would be 5,120 ounces, by my calculations. anyone want to check me on this (it's been a long day)?

Sorry, not gallons.... mistyped (I'll blame it on pregnancy brain) and should have said 40 POUNDS. This is weight so the density of the filling is a factor....
