I had someone call and leave a message that they want me to make a jello cake icon_confused.gificon_confused.gif like they used to have when they were a kid. Does anyone have ANY idea what this might be??? I haven't been able to reach the person. All they said was that it is cake with jello (not pudding) in it- not in between the layers. I have NO IDEA what this is. I think I've heard of a " poke cake" before that uses some jello -could this be what they are speaking of??? I'm stumped.

Any help would be appreciated.

We also call it a poke cake. I think you use half the water and a whole package of jello. You bake the cake and then you take a wooden spoon and you poke holes in the top and pour the jello over the top of it. We usually topped it with cool whip.

We mixed the jello with half the water, then poked holes in the cake with a fork & poured the jello over & refrigerated it to set the jello. We only used a wooden spoon when we used the instant pudding instead of the jello. HTH

That's what I thought it might be. Doesn't sound very appetizing to me, I must say. I don't know how well it would hold up to decorations etc. Seems like it might be better for a summertime cake with whipped cream or something. I guess I'll just have to wait to hear back from them. I don't have the fridge space right now to keep it cold so maybe I'll have to see if they would be interested in something else for now

The first time I heard my neighbor describe this to me I was thinking it would be nasty. I snuck home and made one and much to my suprise it was awesome. You bake a cake like you would any normal cake. When it comes out of the oven you poke small holes all over it, with a fork or such, and pour some prepared jello over it. Put it in the fridge and when your ready to eat it, serve it with whipped topping.
