I am entering my recipes into CakeBoss ( thumbs_up.gif ) and I am trying to come up with the cost for my individual ingredients.

So. I need help.

How do I figure out how much 2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour costs?

There are 3 1/2 cups of flour in one pound.......break it down into decimals and figure it from there..........

Its 0.71 ......multiply that by the price per pound.. thumbs_up.gif HTH

So I go to the store that I shop at and see what I would pay to buy 1 lb of flour (divide price by 5 since it comes in 5 lbs, etc) and than just divide that price by the decimal version of a cake?

If anyone understands that I'll be amazed. icon_razz.gif

Yes, go to the store (or check your last receipt), find the price for 5#'s, divide by 5 ...this gives you the price per pound.....Now MULTIPLY that price by the 0.71 and that gives you the price for that amount....

example: I buy 10#'s at $3.99 = 0.39 / pound
0.39 x 0.71 = 0.28 / 2 1/2 cups icon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

And yes, your request was very easy to understand.....since I teach ESL students, almost everyone makes perfect sense in comparison!! Especially if you read their writing icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

For nay other items, here's a website that converts a number of items. You have to scroll down a ways .... It's under "cook book weights and measures".....

Also, in CakeBoss, if you click 'Reports', then click 'Cake Data Sheet' there is a data sheet with lots of information, and at the bottom are some common measurement conversations. icon_smile.gif
