I'm full of questions today! I made the buttercream last week for my class and the instructor said to bring a fresh batch this coming week. Now my question is, do I have to make a fresh batch? I still have tons of it left from the last class, so I don't understand why I need to make more. I can't see it going bad because it's just sugar, crisco and water. If I have to make a new batch I will, but I'd hate to throw away a perfectly good batch of frosting if it isn't necessary.

I don't see why you would have to make a new batch.....the stuff you have should be good......just mix again!

I say use up what you have first before making a new batch.

If it didn't get all crusty, just stir it up and don't tell her it's leftover. You might need to add a few drops of water if it got stiffer than you want.
Buttercream can last for weeks.

you may just have to make a new batch of thin so you can ice your cake with, and what ever is left over you can add to last weeks, adding more powdered sugar to make it medium cons.

Using last weeks will not hurt anything as long as you have enough of it and had good consistancies.
