Hi, Y'all (yes... the "y'all" indicates that I'm from the South! 
) I was recently referred over here by another friend of mine and quickly found out that the "warning" on the site is absolute truth... it IS truly addicting, but oh-so-much fun! I'd like to say thanks, especially, to Doug for his quick responses and ideas when I've had a question. I've noticed that he's one that responds quickly to Newbies and always has an answer or idea. Thanks, Doug! 
About me... I live in Mississippi (I just moved from Memphis, hence the nickname MemphisMom) and have 2 boys ages 8 and 5. I've always made their birthday cakes mostly because I don't want to pay someone else to do the job and also because it's a memory that I have of my mother... she made every one of our cakes while I was growing up. I want my boys to have that same memory of me, too. It's just a way, for me, of showing them that extra bit of Momma-love. 
I look forward to learning more from each of you, experimenting more, and having lots of fun along the way.

I love how a hobby like cake decorating brings people together and shows so much love. I learn how to decorate so I could make my grandparents 50th anniversary cake since my grandma always made lots of cakes for us!d

I'm fairly new too, and I didn't believe the addiction warning....Now it's too late. lol
If you are going to have an addiction, this one is the best one to have! I really need to step away from the computer, but....it's so hard. lol

I know how you feel this is why I started cake decorating I was pregnant with my third child and made up my mind about cake classes and something I never wanted to do again was to pay for my kids cakes. Their so much pride in it Doug is great he helps me many times he is good with the sketches!!! I've been hooked on CC since I joined my arm is killing me right now from being at the computer all day yesterday!!! I said I would turn the computer off today but didn't!!!!
Cake Central is a nice community. You'll love it here and will learned so much everyone is very helpful and fast at helping in a crisis!!! Here's the two cakes I have made for my kids
The Wiggles car was for my Son's 2nd bday
The second one was my Daughter's 8th bday
The last picture was a drawing I made I wanted the cake to match the invitations but she wanted a topsy turvy cake.
I was able to do these with all the help from members of Cake Central.
y'all know I didn't learn to do this at my Wilton classes all cake central here!!!!

Welcome Cathy to CC. Don't come crying to us when you are so addicted that you sit up half the night looking at the galleries. I can see that you have been warned. 
I don't do alot of decorating but I have learned many things on here. Be sure you look at some of the things listed under "New Articles" as it is amazing what you can learn there. I learn something everyday about how to find my way around CC. Took me forever before I realized how to use the "search" and it is so helpful.
