Silver Icing Color?

Does anyone know how to get a silver color? I want a dull look so that's why i don't want to use silver dust. I tried using black and some other colorings ,but it came out a purplish blue. icon_sad.gif Any help?

I think that you can get white food coloring...if you mix that in with the black, you should get grey. I've seen the white sold here on CC before. HTH

I can't go out and get white coloring right now, is there a way to get it without white?

can't you just add some white frosting to the mixture to lessen the color?

I tried ,but it still stayed a purplish-blue.

i think the way i got gray before was just adding one drop at a time to plain white frosting and eventually got the color i wanted since black is so hard to get anyways. do you have any white left over that you can start over and try?

I still got a like cool blue grey. I'm trying to get a good silver like what paper staples or paper clips are.

gosh i dunno then, maybe try adding a navy blue or brown then add the black to darken it?
