I have made a palm tree. It is in my photos on the beach scene. I took a tootsie roll and put it in the micro for a few seconds and then wrapped it around a sucker stick. I made the leaves out of royal icing.
I made one for my Halloween graveyard cake. Mine was a "spooky" tree but I used a dowel for the trunk and pipe cleaners for the branches. I covered the dowel in fondant and painted RI on the pipe cleaners. Mine did not have leaves, but those could be added onto the branches.
