This is a birthday cake for my husband. The only easy thing about it was making the cake. First I was trying to put a FBCT on it, threw away four because they didn't turn out. Then I got the bright idea to do a chocolate transfer. Well, that didn't work out either and no time to do another. Then, even though I made medium consistency chocolate buttercream, it was peeling off the cake.
So, I decided to put roses in the center and I had problems with that too. Boy, he's lucky this cake isn't sliding down the wall.
Any and all remarks are welcome.
Thanks,
Sharon
Your borders look great, your roses too .. I think you did a wonderful job with all the problems the other techniques gave you ![]()
I'll take a corner piece and a glass of milk, please? Will we be having this after dinner, and whats for dinner???? (It looks good, Im glad the wall didnt get any!)
I think it looks great! I agree with Sandie. The last cake I did in BC, I spent forever trying to get it smooth, and then ended up having to smooth it all again after picking multiple flowers off of it that I wasn't happy with (cursing the whole time!) You can't tell that you had problems, and I'm sure nobody but you will know!
Sharon,
I'm sorry for all the trouble you had but it turned out well! It looks so rich, smooth, and sinfully delicious! I like the chocolate roses on the chocolate cake - it seems more masculine than colored roses would have been. Did your hubby like it?
Great job!

Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments! I forgot to mention the filling was a chocolate mousse with rich's bettercreme and a raspberry filling on top of that. We cut the cake last night and it was delicious if I say so myself. The tip for wrapping the cake after taking it out of the pan and putting it in the freezer is a keeper. Oh, we had shrimp scampi for dinner ![]()
Thanks,
Sharon
