Just curious how they are to work for as a cake decorator. I am thinking of applying as a decorator trainee once I finish all 3 Wilton courses. With still 3 young children, I would need to work part time hours..curious to know what their PT hours are as well.

I worked there 10 years ago when I was in college, after my three Wilton courses. I have a feeling it's going to depend on the store, but here is my experience with that Publix (in Tampa, FL).
Basically, they wanted quantity, the more cakes you threw out in the case, the better. Granted, I never did the made-to-order cakes, just the basic ones with flowers that you can get in the cake case, and also the yummy specialty cakes (like german chocolate, etc.) I was never fast enough for my female, evil, supervisor. Excuse me for wanting my cake to be pretty with no obvious flaws! But the job let me practice my skills with very little of the stuff I find boring (like baking and cleaning up). I had to eventually quit because the bakery manager was so mean about how fast (or lack thereof) I was at my cakes.
The hours were great, except getting before the crack of dawn. I only worked weekends.
All this being said, I would still be willing to work there again one day, however (not with that boss, of course). Getting the experience was priceless.
