I keep a digital camera in my purse at all times. I shop with it. If I see something I may be interested in, I snap a picture, even from different angles, and include the price in the pic. Nobody has ever thought anything of it, except that a few have commented what a wise practice it is.

Personally, I wouldn't feel bad snapping a pic of a decorated cake. Just explain about the birthday party/wedding this summer IF anyone asks. I ask all kinds of pricing questions. Yep, I know what everyone around here charges, and how their cakes taste, and yep, I buy some occasionally, just to compare. Course I never talk down anybody. I'm busy enough that if anyone tells me after I tell them my cakes start at $40, that they can get it at Wal-Mart a lot cheaper, well, if Wal-Mart will meet your needs, go to Wal-Mart. icon_lol.gif

We've got a local grocery store - not Walmart - that sells me edible images for $6/sheet without the cake.
