Need Help Covering Cake Form - Qp Fondant Vs. Thinned Royal

I am making a very large and envolved cake for my son's 4th birthday. In an effort to reduce the amount of cake needed to build his masterpiece... I am using some tips from Cake Central.com users and making the inside arena for his cars cake out of styrofoam. What is the best recipe to use for covering the styrofoam should I use quick pour fondant or thinned royal icing... which one will give me the most coverage and best overall look - I want that very smooth and finished look since the part I am covering is going to be the race track and inside pit area of the arena? I have used both QP fondant and thinned Royal icing in the past in other projects... just not sure what is right for what I am wanting to do now. Or is there another recipe for something I haven't tried before that I don't know of. Thanks in advance for all those that can give me some advice. Cakelicious Creations by Tisha

I've never used QP Fondant or Royal Icing (for frosting), but you might be able to use regular rolled fondant to cover the cake form with. Be sure to "round over" any edges of the form or your fondant will rip.

I have read about people using RI for covering cake dummies. They even mentioned being able to "sand" it smooth. Jen
