Fbct - Learned A Lot On My First Try
Decorating By Crimsicle Updated 19 Feb 2006 , 1:19am by TexasSugar
Well, it took me all day, but I just finished my first FBCT and posted the picture in my photos.
What did I learn? First of all...I learned to listen to the words of wisdom from this board. I just KNEW that if I froze my Crisco-based transfer long enough, it'd work. It didn't.
Secondly, I used plastic wrap over the pattern instead of waxed paper. Came off like a charm.
On the first transfer, I had a hard time telling whether I had actually completed filling in an area, or if I was seeing the paper underneath. On the second one, I changed all the colors to weird. contrasting colors. Made it easier to see where I needed to fill. I made a second print in the correct colors and kept it next to my work just to check my design.
Finally, I think I'll choose larger and less detailed designs in the future - and maybe ones without so many straight lines. Ugh! This one should be reserved for printed icing sheets!
Thanks again for all your tips, ladies and gentlemen!
It turned out great, and it seems like every time I do one they get easier![]()
Poppie,
Go to the tutorial for FBCT:
http://www.cakecentral.com/article12-How-To-Create-a-Frozen-Buttercream-Transfer.html
There's a link to the recommended buttercream recipe within the directions.
Hope it works for ya!
I wonder why your all crisco icing didn't work. That is all I have ever used for them and it has froze for me without a problem.
