I Signed Up For Gumpaste & Fondant But I Teach At Anothe

So I signed up for the Wilton Gumpaste and Frondant class at Micheals but I teach at A. C. Moore. We don't offer the class until May and I really wanted some hands on experience (plus for fun!) I feel wierd about it, like i'm betraying ac moore or like i'm being sneaky getting the 411 on micheals classes haha. AND I don't think the instructor likes me much because she walked into ac moore with her friend while i was doing a demo and her friend pointed me out and she looked and gave a "hmm, whatever" type look and walked by me with her nose in the air.
So I feel like its going to be ackward being her student. I was hoping my original micheals instructor would teach the class and was a little upset when I found out the new girl is. I dunno, its just weird because she knows i work at ac moore.
Unless there is something in your work contract that states anything about it (conflict of interest), just do it. You are not being paid by ACM on your off hours and since ACM does not teach the class yet...this will make you a better instructor! It is not like you are not stealing the secret or something. CAKE ON!! ![]()
I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes we think more into situations then what is really there because of our conscience. Don't worry about it, there's not rule that you can't take a class somewhere else... you're taking it because AC moore isn't offering it yet. Take it, have fun, and who knows, maybe the new instructor isn't all that bad, she just may be having an off day.
Don't worry about it. There isn't anything in the contracts that say you can't do it. Let her feel as if she is better. Then ask her lots of questions in class and then teach it at your AC Moore and take her students!
Evil, I know. But do what you need to do and forget about her. She can't make it harder for you in the class or anything like that.
I know an instructor or two that have taken the classes from Michaels. I also have two from Hobby Lobby (out of town) coming to take it before they start to teach it. So I don't see anything wrong with it. If I didn't teach 4 nights a week I considered going to an near by town to take it from someone else myself.
As an instructor it makes me nervious because I feel like the know as much as I do about the whole deal so what can I really teach them, you know?
Not saying you would do this but remember you are a student so I wouldn't jump in with a bunch of answers to other's questions. You can go to class a little early and talk to the instructor. Just let her know you are there to learn and not anything else. I wouldn't mention in the class that you are another instructor unless the Michaels Instructor says something about it.
Don't stress over it, just go and have fun. ![]()
thanks. I wasn't planning on saying anything about me being the instructor across the street (the stores are like a 30 second walk from each other haha) I'm hoping she doesn't even remember me.
