I have a cake due this Saturday and I made a 4" 3 and 0 out of gumpaste. I have done this before, but this time the 3 cracked at the base near where I have the dowel inserted. It's too late to make another, and this one has been drying for a week. I'm trying to patch it with royal icing. Any other thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

What about gumpaste glue, 3 tbsp water and 1/8 tsp of gumpaste, let stand for about 20 minutes, mix until gumpaste is incorporated in water.

You can super glue it. Super glue is non toxic and can be used on gum paste. It's what we did in Nic Lodge's class. It works great!!

Hmmm, I can't quite picture it. RI will work, so will gum glue. That's made with gum arabic and water (cooked I believe) or the way I do it is to take some gumpaste and thin it with water into a thick liquid paste. It should dry overnight.
