So (long story) dh and I foolishly assumed we didn't need commercial ins on our van because the city said we didn't. Well, turns out we do. I phoned thinking crap this is going to cost us a tonne of $$...well, turns out, commercial ins is cheaper than personal...
funny eh??
And to add my business to our house ins is only $350 more. That's not a problem to be able to sleep at night. (I had nightmares of my house burning down last night
).
So....don't be scared to get the proper ins. You might be surprised...
I called about getting liability insurance, which is what I was told I would need to sell at a local farmer's market. I was thinking this is going to cost a fortune! Well, for $300,000 liability insurance, it's going to cost a whopping $191 a year. I'm not doing it this year, but it's good to know for maybe next year.
I tell ya, us women get ourselves all worked up with worrying! Hubby yells at me all the time to relax. It's in my genes, I can't!
Do WHAT!
My business insurance is for building and liability is $1400yr.

When I called for quotes on insurance for the space I'm looking to rent, I was told just under $500 for the basics, and another $380 or so for the additional 'food business' bundle if I wanted it.
mpc, you own your commercial space, correct?

Yes, I have 1760sf. This cover the inside of the building and the equipment and liability.
