How many of you guys use homemade cakes as a selling point vs doctored up box cakes with beautiful decorations. I would imagine that if you can do both, you have no worries at all. icon_biggrin.gif Also, if I wanted to try a couple of scratch cakes, which recipes would you all suggest? Right now I'm still new at it, but eventually I want to be able to make delicious moist cakes that look awesome.

I personally don't like box cakes... I'm a scratcher myself.

I have a few favs recipes and there are heaps on this web in the recipe section -- I'm actually going to attempt someone's Red Velvet Cake - never made this before (except it will be GREEN velvet cake for st paddys day... am assuming the taste won't change!)

I make some from mix and some from scratch. It all depends on what I am doing. I make chocolate both ways, sometime scratch, sometimes doctored mix. I really like the Killer Chocolate cake from the recipe section on this site. My favorite doctored mix is the White Almond Sour Cream cake and it is in the recipe section too.
