Hey everyone,
In the midst of working on my master's degree I baked another cake to practice techniques for my DD wedding. I have posted some pictures, let me know what you honestly think.
Thanks,
Bradymom

it's very pretty! one tiny suggestion, with a damp brush or a cornstarched finger and a light touch you can smooth out the transitions between piping lines on your scrollwork. beautiful though! icon_biggrin.gif

Nice! How many tiers will it be? What will you be putting on top?

Lovely. I wish I could pipe so neatly. How nice you are doing DD's cake. When's the big day? Are those the colors you'll be using? For a critique I would only say to tap down your icing points on your border. Otherwise thumbs_up.gif

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the suggestions and kind words. The big day is August 4. It will be three layers and I am going to use the Floating Tier Cake Stand. I am having problems with what else to do with it because DD is being very untraditional and does not want a topper and is not saving the top layer. I think they need something on top so I am going to suggest maybe some of the silk flowers she is using in her bouquet. I am also planning on wrapping the pole of the stand in the same material that is making a sash on her dress. The actual color is going to be peridot and I have to go to the bridal shop and get a swatch of it so I can work on matching it. Here is a link to the website of David's Bridal where she got her dress. http://davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=2027&prodgroup=127
Hopefully it will work, if the sash looks red just click on the color squares to the right of the picture. Peridot is the third on from the left on the bottom row.

I would suggest doing each scroll in the same order so that the same pieces are on top. (At least on the same side of the cake.) Does that make sense? I mean do the main part of the scroll and then add extra swirls, but do them in the same order each time.

Very neatly done! It is hard to have such a contrast. It looks great.

Maybe the topper could be the same green but in royal icing. You could make panels of green filligree and then put them together in an interesting way. I've seen trees created this way with four pieces meeting down the center.

Or maybe a monogram?

Very nice!

Ameri color makes a color called "Avacado" that would probably help getting very close to what you need.
