Hi,

You can freeze or wrap really well and put in refridgerator.

When are you planning on decorating?

Hi,

I actually prefer to freeze my cake layers. ESpecially if you bake today, they will be fresher tasting on Saturday if you freeze them. I would take them out of the freezer early Sat am if you are decorating then, or put them in the fridge in Fri night. A cool cake is easier for me to ice--YMMV.
I wrap mine well in two layers of plastic wrap and into the freezer for a couple of days. I wrap more if they will be there longer.

You could freeze if you want, but I would think it would be fine wrapped really well and refridgerated. That way, you won't have to wait til it thaws to decorate.

I would put a simple syrup glaze and then freeze. I think your cake will be moister that way. I would let it defrost well before you decorate it.

This is a silly question I know but what is a simple syrup galze and when do you use it? Does it make the cakes more moist? Please just fill me in on this!! Much appreciated!!

I only use a watered down apricot glaze. I actually use it even when I don't freeze. I find that the cakes have a nice moist and richness to them.

I got the recipe from squirrelly and tcturtleshell. icon_smile.gif
