It ripped in half!!!!!!!!!! icon_cry.gif

I guess I'm off to the store to buy colored chocolates. I seem to do better with those transfers!

I will not let this cake win! icon_wink.gif

From now on use the parchment paper! I like the wilton silicone treated kind. I know some people do not have problems with the FBCT sticking to wax paper...BUT I cant say how many times I have read someone says that it gets stuck. Or you could try *next time* at least lightly greasing the wax paper with crisco. Sorry, I do not know how to help you this time thumbsdown.gif !

I agree! Use parchment paper. I've never had a problem with parchment paper but using wax paper, my fbct stuck every time. JMO.

Try using dental floss (Unflavored!). Get a long piece & wrap each end around a finger on each hand (like you're going to floss the teeth of a very big giant). Gently start at one edge of the FBCT a use a gentle sawing motion, gradually pulling the dental floss under the design, until you reach the other side.

Let me know if this helps!

did you use a buttercream with butter in it....I did notice in the instructions it said to use a buttery buttercream or else it will stick... I used a 1/2 butter 1/2 shortening recipe and mine didnt stick but I still plan on using parchment next time.

SO I have been doing some reading... and I think my problem was that I didn't make it thick enough.

mareg I put it in the freezer and left it there over night. I took it out of the freezer and tried taking it off, first the boarders were pulling then where it got a little more detaied it tore right in half!!!!!

I'm gonna go try parchment right now, luckily I saved all my colors and it's not a VERY detailed picture.

Thanks everyone for all you suggestions! Wish me luck!

After flipping it over on the cake, did you rub it a little with your hand? It helps warm up the surface a little and makes it easier to peel off. I forgot to do that one time and it's the only time I had problems.

WOOHOO!!!

Thank you everyone... The parchment paper and making it MUCH thicker did the trick. I need to do a little touch up but it came off SOOOO much easier then the 1st one.

THANK YOU ALL for reading my post and replying!

I'll post a picture as soon as I can.

Just the pot of gold and the 2 shamrocks next to it are FBCT... the six shamrocks on the side I used a cookie cutter to imprint the frosting then filled it in.

Welcome to CC!

Here is the article for the FBCT...
http://www.cakecentral.com/article12-How-To-Create-a-Frozen-Buttercream-Transfer.html

And here is a link to the acronyms that are used here on CC...

Hope this helps!

I also did a chocolate transfer (in my gallery) and it is alot faster to finish, but the chocolate tends to just pour out of the bag and can harden quickly if you have to stop (which I had to do ALOT because my sons were being as busy as ever icon_wink.gif). But I really like that you can buy all the colors ready to go.
