Which color would you use to get something close to a candy apple red?

Carnation, poppy, or flame?

TIA!

Poppy and I would steam the finished flower. But true Candy Apple Red has a bit of metallic in it. You could try adding just a whisper of super pearll to the poppy.

One more question....

What do you normally use to 'brush' it on? Any special steps I need to take?

Boy, am I green or what?!?! icon_confused.gif

Raspberry luster dust on top of the poppy red will make a beautiful finish, especially when steamed. The raspberry doesn't lighten the color and stills gives great results.

I have been taught that sable brushes are best for use with dusts. They can be a little on the expensive side, depending upon where you buy them. Watch for sales at the craft and art stores.

I have heard that the taklon brushes are also good for this, but I have found them to be too stiff, and I end up applying more to the first contact area than to others. I am heavy-handed, too, which does not help.
