I am doing a My Little Pony cake for a friend's daughter and I want to put a picture of the pony on the side of the cake. I was thinking of doing 1 of 2 things and I am hoping you all can help me decide which would be the best and how to do it. . . 1) how can I put a buttercream transfer picture on the side of a cake instead of the top - will it be too heavy and slide off? or 2) can I place a buttercream transfer on a fondant plaque and then place that on the side of the cake - would that work. Any help would be so appreciated!!

I think you can put a fbct on the side of a cake. I have not done it personally, but I have seen it. I would think it couldnt be too big or it would break if you were trying to get it to form to a round cake.

I do not think it would work to put it on a fondant plaque. I think it would just slide right off. Just my opinion, it is not something I have tried. But I wouldnt! LOL!

If I were you, I would do a chocolate transfer on the side of the cake. Do you know how to do that? It is a lot like a FBCT except with candy melts. It will set up hard and easy to place around the sides of cakes!

merissa - thanks for the advise. My first thought was to do a chocolate transfer (I have done those before), but the cake is going to be picked up on Friday by the birthday girl's dad and their home is 2 hours away, so I was afraid the chocolate transfers would break.
