OKAY, I AM FINALLY GETTING REQUEST FOR WEDDING CAKES!!! THE LOCAL BAKERY CHARGES AROUND $2.00 A SERVING WHERE I AM FROM. SHOULD I ALSO CHARGE EXTRA FOR DIFFCULTY OF DESIGN AND SET UP AND DELIVERY. IF SO...DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO GUIDE TO ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?
THANKS,
LES
I try to find out what everyone in my rea charges. Not just bakeries but the grocery store bakeries, too. Definitely need to charge more for difficult design or anything that requires make-ahead pieces. I start with a basic buttercream icing price, and more for fondant. Added charges are fresh flowers, fresh fruit, chocolate dipped strawberries, fondant accents. Delivery charge for out-of-town. Hope that helps--Pam
I would charge a delivery fee regardless of whether it is out of town or not.Maybe not as much for in town but it costs you money to run your vehicle.I also agree with all of Mac's other suggestions!!!
I would probably have a base price per serving for basic buttercream and normal decorating. I would charge more for fruit and other fillings. I would also add extra for fondant and more detailed decorating. You might have a standard delivery/set up fee for in town. For out of town...it would depend on how far. Someone asked me how much I would charge for a wedding cake delivery that was around 60 miles away. I told her 100.00 and I think that was a pretty good with the gas prices as high as they are.
I recently made up a price sheet for all my different size cakes. This makes it easier when I get asked how much I charge.
Congratulations on the wedding cake orders! ![]()
I love your name . . . Leslie's Cake Creations because I'm a Leslie too!!
I would also check other private bakeries for their prices as well as anything locally posted on the web.
Good luck and congratulations!!
