I need to make this cake by Friday, I'm new and SLOW, and change my mind A LOT, so I guess I'm seeing what you think.Everyone has such good ideas. Here's my two thoughts. The lady wants dinosaurs out of cookies, the little guy is turnning 3, I found these two invites on line and thought I would design around one of them. I'm thinking I could just cut out the cookies by hand. The thing is she DOES NOT want fondant. I'm thinking a two tier..Bight and funky...???????? Thanks

I don't do cookies but I love seeing all the cute designs you guys come up with. I really like the first one and it doesn't look too difficult. I would save it to my picture files, enlarge to the size you need and print it out to use as a pattern. It would be really cute to ice the cake in a bright yellow or blue color of buttercream and have the dinosaur cookies marching around the bottom edge with maybe a larger one standing up on the top. Or an edible image of the dino on a gumpaste plaque. Trying to think of what else to fill in. Maybe a border piped in white and shaped like bones connecting all the way around, like you would do a shell border?

That's the one I was leanning towards since it's more long and narrow, it would fit around a cake better I think. But do you think he looks dino enough? It would be fun to be able to use fondant and make it look like blue jeans. (But oh, NO)
and Doug, at least you got pies, I got nothing!!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

I really like both of them. But if I were you I would go with the 1st one. I think it would be easier to cut out and could be iced to be really cute.

Be sure to post photos when done.

My vote is for the first dinosaur. He will be easier to decorate on cookies. I cut out a template with parchment or plastic, lay it on the dough and cut around the template with a sharp knife or exacto knife. The exacto is sure easy. I think Cake Princess posted about doing this last year. I've used the technique quite a bit. Good luck with both the cake and cookies.

Thanks, I guess I'm stressing cause this lady called so late...
She had seen the Hello Kitty cake I did, that's why she wants the cookies!
And I don't want to do it the same exact way!!! I want different!
I guess I was trying to figure out which Dino was the cutest. And if I should make them all different colors. (And I don't know her) So really want to make a big impression because she works at a huge company here. Thanks.

I also like the first one. I think he'll have a simple line, like hello kitty (which by the way, is awesome). Why not do them all green with different colored polka dots to match the cake colors.
