How fun you did such a good job. He will never forget this cake.
I have no advise either on price. But this cake is just great and the birthday boy is going to love it! I think on pricing you need to consider what bakeries charge in your area, what people are willing to pay, the cost of your ingredients and the time you spent on it. I don't know if we can ever really gain back monetarily what we put into a cake in time spent, but if you keep track, figure out an hourly wage and see if you come up with a dollar price that will account for it.
great cake. I would charge what you thinkit is worth. Dont short change yourself. that is a nice cake
That is a great cake! I can't help with the pricing question either, but I think you did a fabulous job!
This is a great cake!! I can't wait to show my boys, they will love it too.
They are very into skateboards right now, including my 2 yo daughter.
I have no idea about the price...

Lejla - First, your cake looks great. It is very original and the birthday boy will definitely remember it forever.
To help with pricing, I would have to know more about it. What is the cake on, a skateboard? If so, then you have to include the cost of that. Assuming it is of normal size (not overly large or small), I would charge $20 for the base cake, $10 for the theme/support structure, and $10 for the fondant. If there is a premium filling or something, that would add $5. So that brings the total to $40-$45. Of course that would have to be adjusted up or down depending on your location and the mean income in your area.
The only thing about that cake that I'm not crazy about, is that it is a little hard to read the name, at least in a picture. I'm not sure how I would fix that, possibly outline it in white in the future. Other than that, it is a totally amazing cake.
HTH!
Could you tell me how you did it? Is there something in the middle to keep it up or is it resting on the wheels? AWESOME cake! As far as the charge, I wouldnt do it for less than 50 -60 dollars. I usually work out a price before I do the cake so that the customer is not in shock in case they are expecting a grocery store price. I would love to know how you did it.
Great Cake ,Lejla! I wouldn't go less than $2/per serving be it that it has great airbrush artwork and is covered in fondant. As it has already been stated, you should take into account what the cake base(stand) is made of. Looks Great!!!
WOW,Thank you guys.I didn't think id get so many nice compliments on it.
So since you have been so nice to me,I will be nice to you and let you in on my little secret
.
I actually used a real skateboard and covered it in the foil and then fondant,so you cant tell whats beneath it
.After that just plain ol' sheet cake, carved to fit the deck. After that I found the picture of the "Boy's" favorite skateboard, and made a stencil out of it.And believe it or not,no airbrush involved.Yes you heard me right
, just wiltons spray mist .But as usuall the fondant gives me a h.... each time I play with it, so you can see what Im talking about when I say that it is not "perfect".But Im still hanging in there, one of these days I'll get it right
.I won't beat me.
If it wasn't for you guys there is no way I'd be even this far in cake decorating. So all the credit I get, half goes to CC.You guys are awesome
.
Your cake looks really good! If you can paint that good with the Wilton sprays I would love to see your work with an air brush. You have talent.
