I'm about to purchase a set of square pans and wanted to know which sizes are used the most.

I use my eights ALL the time. Tens now and then. Sixes and the bigger sizes...almost never.

I have Magic Line and totally love them.

That's another concern I had. If I get bake a 3" cake(torte and fill it) is it going to be tall enough. I was leaning towards the two inch because I've gotten used to the height my cakes using 2 two inch layers with filling.

I just bought mine and I went with the 2 inch size. I got mine from Pfeil and Holing. A pretty spendy little venture however MUCH cheaper than going to the cake decorating store. They will be here in 2 days...yahoo!

rhondie-I just checked out that site. They look like Magic Line. Do you know if they are for sure?

I'm guessing no only because it is not stated. I do know that they are the SHARP 90 degree style. Gotta have those sharp pointed edges. I bought every size they offered, I'm making a wedding cake for my cousin and she wants a square wedding cake. Just checked the UPS tracking and they will be here the 22nd, so I'll let you know if they are magic line or what ever they say..if anything.

OK...They came today!! I was pretty excited. The pans are NOT magic line they actually say the company name on them (pheil and Holing). They seem to be of excellent quality. The only thing I might warn you about ordering from this site is that they do not guesstimate your shipping charges. They ask that you "trust" that they will give you the most economical shipping rates for your order. You have not clue what the shipping is until you get the receipt in the mail a few days later.

One more thing I might add is my stuff seemed a little roughed up in the box. My foil wrap was crinkled and partially opened. And I ordered a box of cake circles(125) that were just tossed in the box with the other stuff...They were not in plastic bags or boxed. I noticed that a couple of the cake circles had smudges of a black grease looking substance on them. And I kid you not, they forgot my 10x10x2 inch pan!!!!!!

Good customer service though...she quickly said" It will be shipped out tomorrow". I hope this helps you in your pan purchase! ~ Rhondie

I use my 8" and 10" pans the most. I have the magic line 2" pans and love them. My cakes end up being about 5" tall. I ordered some from Pfeil and Holing. I compared them to my ML and they feel the same and have sharp corners.

What is the difference between Magic Line and Wilton?

Thanks for keeping me informed Rhondie.

neni- That's good to know. If I wanted to save some money I could go with Pfeil and Holing.

The cupcakemom- I've heard on this site time and time again that Magic Line is a better quality pan than Wilton.
